Sundarban Ilish Utsav (সুন্দরবন ইলিশ উৎসব) is West Bengal’s most beloved monsoon celebration — a 2 Night 3 Day tour package deep into the Sundarbans mangrove forest, built around the iconic Hilsa (Ilish) fish, Bengal’s culinary pride. The menu includes Shorshe Ilish, Doi Ilish, Begun Ilish, Ilish Bhapa, Ilish Paturi, Ilish Biriyani, Prawn Malai Curry, Bhetki Fish, Mutton Kosha, Basanti Pulao and traditional Bengali sweets. 3–5 Hilsa varieties every day.
Yes — completely safe when visiting with a licensed operator. All safaris are by boat; tourists never enter the forest on foot. Forest department guides accompany every trip. Tigers rarely approach tourist zones. Our professional team ensures complete safety.
Sundarban is the world’s largest mangrove forest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, estuarine crocodiles, Irrawaddy dolphins, 300+ bird species, and is world-renowned for the Ilish Utsav (Hilsa Fish Festival) every monsoon.
Kolkata to Godkhali is about 100 km (2.5–3 hours by road). Sealdah to Canning by train takes ~1 hr 15 min. Canning to Godkhali is ~30 km. We offer pickup from both Godkhali and Canning.
The Sundarbans has 400+ rivers, estuaries and tidal waterways including the Hooghly, Matla, Gosaba, Harinbhanga, Raimangal and Bidyadhari. This complex tidal delta makes it the perfect habitat for Hilsa fish during monsoon.
